Some of my favorite jewelry to make is the jewelry that has a story behind it.

Maybe you've had a very specific ring living in your head for years. Maybe you're dreaming up an engagement ring that feels like you instead of something you'd find in a jewelry case. Maybe you have an heirloom stone tucked away in a drawer, waiting for a new life.

Whatever the story, I'd love to create something completely your own.

Every custom piece is designed and handmade by me in my Salt Lake City studio using traditional metalsmithing and stone-setting techniques. From the first idea to the final polish, I'm the one behind the bench bringing your piece to life.

WHAT CAN WE MAKE?

ENGAGEMENT RINGS

Your engagement ring should feel like your ring — not just a variation of something you've already seen.

I can work with natural or lab-grown diamonds, colored gemstones, your own stone, or help you source the perfect stone for your design.

Starting around $2,000+

Final pricing depends heavily on the center stone, metal, setting, and overall design.

WEDDING BANDS

From simple and timeless to heavily detailed, engraved, milgrained, or diamond-set — your wedding band can be designed to complement your engagement ring or stand completely on its own.

Starting around $600+ in sterling silver and $1700+ in gold

Diamond and gold bands will typically fall higher depending on the materials and amount of detail.

EVERYDAY FINE JEWELRY

Custom jewelry doesn't have to be for a wedding.

Think gemstone rings, meaningful pendants, special earrings, stackable bands, signet rings, and those “I've been imagining this forever” pieces.

A NOTE ABOUT PRICING

Custom jewelry is priced individually because every piece is different.

The biggest things that affect your final price are:

  • Metal — sterling silver, 10k/14k/18k yellow or rose gold, or platinum

  • Gemstones and diamonds

  • Natural vs. lab-grown stones

  • Size and quantity of stones

  • Design complexity

  • Hand engraving, milgrain, or other specialty details

  • Amount of metal required

  • Ring size and overall dimensions

If you already have a budget in mind, please tell me! You don't need to know exactly what you want to spend, but having a general range helps me design something beautiful that makes sense for you.

 

THE CUSTOM PROCESS

01 — TELL ME YOUR IDEA

Send me an email at contact@averynicolejewelry.com with as much information as you have.

Helpful things to include:

  • Inspiration or reference photos

  • Your preferred metal

  • Stone preferences

  • Ring size, if applicable

  • Your approximate budget

  • What the piece is for

  • Any sentimental details or meaning behind the design

You don't need to have everything figured out. That's what I'm here for!

02 — LET'S FIGURE OUT THE DESIGN

I'll review your idea and follow up with any questions I need answered.

Once I have enough information to understand your vision, I'll put together your quote and, when appropriate, a digital rendering or design concept.

The design phase typically takes up to one week.

03 — MAKE IT OFFICIAL

Once you've approved the design and quote, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin your custom piece.

This is when your project officially moves onto my bench.

04 — I GET TO MAKE THE THING

This is the fun part.

I'll create and finish your piece in my Salt Lake City studio using the materials and design we've agreed upon.

Custom pieces typically take 4–6 weeks to complete after the design is finalized.

Rush orders may be available for an additional fee depending on my current schedule and the complexity of the piece.

05 — THE BIG REVEAL

Once your piece is finished, I'll send you photos for approval.

Once you've approved the finished piece, the remaining 50% balance is due. Then I'll carefully package and ship your new piece to you.

USING YOUR OWN STONE OR JEWELRY

Have a gemstone sitting in a jewelry box? An old engagement ring you want to completely reinvent? A sentimental piece that isn't really your style anymore?

I'd love to see what we can do with it.

I accept client-provided gemstones and, in some cases, precious metal from existing jewelry. Because I haven't personally sourced or inspected client materials before purchase, all client-provided stones require a signed jewelry intake form and liability waiver before work begins.

I'll evaluate your materials first to make sure they're suitable for the new design.

✧ Lab-grown gemstones

✧ Natural diamonds

✧ Lab-grown diamonds

I don't offer white gold, gold-filled, vermeil, or plated jewelry.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Custom deposits are non-refundable. Once your 50% deposit is paid, I begin reserving materials, time, and bench space specifically for your project.

Custom designs are made specifically for you. Because of this, custom pieces are final sale once production has begun.

Designs are finalized before production begins. I'll work with you to make sure we're on the same page about the overall design, materials, and price before I begin fabrication.

Your piece will be handmade. Small variations and signs of hand fabrication are part of what makes a handmade piece yours.
