The Lore

Hi there!

I’m Avery, the silversmith and designer behind Avery Nicole Jewelry. I’m originally from Encinitas, California, but for the last three years I’ve been living the Utah life. I moved here to study at the University of Utah (Go Utes!) and in 2023, I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. By day, I work full-time in research. By night, I’m making jewelry in my home studio and living my best creative life.

I’ve always been an artist at heart—I've been creating things since I could pick up a crayon—but jewelry is my latest (and greatest) adventure. It all started with my great-grandfather, a talented lapidary artist who spent his retirement cutting and shaping stones. In February 2023, I inherited his lapidary toolbox and unfinished projects (talk about an heirloom, right?). That was the moment I decided to learn how to cut stones myself. Next thing I knew, I was diving headfirst into silversmithing, taking my first class in October 2023. A year later, I’m here crafting and selling my own sterling silver jewelry. What a ride!

My work is a unique mix of family history and creative passion. Along with my great-grandfather’s influence, I also honor my grandfather, a skilled metal fabricator. While his work was more industrial (his torch was about 10 times bigger than mine, haha). I like to think of my craft as a more delicate, sparkly extension of his skills. It’s honestly a huge privilege to carry their legacies forward into pieces that can be cherished for generations.

Now, where do I get my inspiration to keep creating? Nature, of course! The mountains of Northern Utah are my personal playground, and I’m completely enchanted by the mythology of the natural world. I’m not a hardcore backpacker, but I do love hiking and frolicking on the trails. For me, hiking is less about reaching the destination and more about soaking up the beauty and mystery of the journey in every step. There’s something about the mountains and forests that feels full of untold stories and ancient myths, and it sparks my creativity like nothing else. I try to bottle that sense of wonder and the unknown into every piece I create—because nature’s got some serious magic, and I’m just here for it.

Thank you so much for joining me on this creative adventure. I truly hope my jewelry adds a little sparkle, magic, and enchantment to your life!
